An Open Letter to Aldrich
There is a group of extraordinary young women who are a part of my college life. They are collectively known to friends as "Aldrich". This is based on the building in which they all made acquaintances and friendships during freshmen year. They all lived within close proximity to each other, and in turn became good friends. I did not have the pleasure of meeting these young women until the latter days of my freshmen year, but it was still good, because I ended up becoming acquainted with some of the best friends a guy could have.
Their names are Megan Workman and Colleen McGroarty. There are more of them of course that I have to mention and a lot of what I have to say applies to all of them, like Hannah, Jean, Laura, Kim, Julia, but Megan and Colleen have been the closest.
They have stuck by me as friends through thick and thin, and I really owe them a tremendous debt of gratitude. They have truly represented friendship to me, and being members of the opposite sex, it is something I never had really experienced to that degree until I got to college.
It is quite refreshing, and the truth is that they've really become something like sisters to me. They mean a whole lot to me, and this is something that I could never accurately describe in one sitting and probably never tell them in person.
If given the opportunity, I'd probably marry either one of them in a heartbeat. But I really have nothing to do but thank them enormously for being such good friends and such good people to know. And if they will be reading this, I sincerely hope that they accept my thanks and my request to stay in touch in the future, because they really do mean a lot to me, and I hope never to lose their kind feelings.
